Training course on qualitative data content analysis

Al Kawakibi Center for Democracy Transition organized a training course on qualitative data content analysis, on January 19 20th 2016 at the center’s premises in Tunis. in cooperation with Impunity Watch and YORK University. And in the framework of the development of the capabilities of a research project barometer of transitional justice team is in the process a second study on the victim and collective compensation setting.

In the framework of the project barometer of transitional justice, Al Kawakibi Center for Democracy Transition organized on Thursday 2 July 2015 a workshop, which was attended by representatives from the truth and dignity committee, international organizations as well as national organizations and associations.

Al-Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center organized training session on “the documentation of human rights violations”

Within the framework of the Transitional Justice Academy activities and in cooperation with No Peace Without Justice organization, Al-Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center organized training session on “the documentation of human rights violations” from 20 to 22 September 2013, in Hammamet.

The training counted for a number of twenty participants. Most of them are members in civil society organizations and belong to: the Organization of freedom and fairness, Institutions’ Reform Association and so many others.

Within the framework of the transitional Justice Academy activities and in cooperation with no peace without justice organization, Al kawakibi Democracy transition Center organized a training session on: “The Documentation of Human Rights Violations», on the 12th and 13th of November 2013, In Hammamet.

The training counted for a number of eighteen participants. All of them are journalists and belong to different organizations working on human rights and transitional justice.

Within the framework of the transitional Justice Academy activities and in cooperation with no peace without justice organization, Al kawakibi Democracy transition Center organized a training session on: “The Documentation of Human Rights Violations”, from 8 to the 10th of November 2013 in Tunis.

The training considered a number of eighteen participants working as lawyers and judges. They are all members of human rights and transitional justice’s organizations. 

NPWJ and KADEM issue report on accountability and Transitional Justice expectations and perceptions across the Country

No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) and Al-Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center (KADEM), are working in Tunisia to support the country democratic transition through transitional justice since the revolution that ousted the previous regime of the former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. In the framework of this common endeavour, NPWJ and KADEM conducted, in September 2011, a survey whose results are now being published under the form of a report entitled “Accounting for the Past in Tunisia: an Assessment of Accountability and Transitional Justice Expectations and Perceptions

NPWJ and KADEM promote transitional and international justice in the Arab region with the ICC Prosecutor

On 20 June 2013, Al-Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center (KADEM) and No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) under the framework of the Transitional Justice Academy concluded successfully in Tunis a Conference on the topic: “Transitional and International Justice in the Arab region”, with the participation of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda.

Transitional Justice Academy fosters exchange between Libyan and Tunisian media on transitional justice and the ICC

On 12 June 2013, Al Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center (KADEM) and No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) concluded under the Transitional Justice Academy framework a two-day training course for Tunisian and Libyan media representatives on Transitional justice and the International Criminal Court. By offering a stable framework for enhanced cooperation and exchange of experiences for main stakeholders in the MENA region on Transitional Justice, the Academy maximises the impact of individual initiatives on this issue.
 

The Transitional Justice Academy enhances lawyers’ and youth participation to support accountability efforts

On 28 March 2013, Al Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center (KADEM) and No Peace Without Justice (NPWJ) in partnership with the Tunisian Bar Association concluded in Sfax, Southeast Tunisia, a consultation with over 40 lawyers on transitional justice and the draft legislation that is now being discussed at the National Constituent Assembly. This activity was followed by a two-day training with a restricted group of 20 lawyers on the various components of transitional justice, with a particular focus on Truth Commissions.

KADEM is a technical, non-governmental regional organization specialized in knowledge transfer, expertise-sharing and capacity-building in the field of democratic transition.  It is founded on the principle of partnership among organizations and experts across the Arab region and beyond.KADEM was set up in Amman, Jordan, in June 2006. Following the Revolution in Tunisia, KADEM was registered in July 2011 as an association subject to Tunisian law.

KADEM seeks to enhance the contribution of Arab civil societies to democratic transition processes, thereby strengthening the foundations of national sovereignty, and promoting good governance based on social justice, economic development, gender equality, and broad popular participation in decision-making, as well as on the principles of rule of law, transparency, protection of human rights and individual/public freedoms, and peaceful alternation of power.
