Al Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center jointly with the Arab Civil Coalition for Citizenship launched the Citizenship campaign “My Citizenship Duty is my Right” in the Arab Region

On his way to improving the status of Citizenship in the Arab Region, Al Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center collaborated with a large number of his partners in the region namely the Arab Civil Coalition for Citizenship and the Arab Democracy Foundation to launch the Citizenship Campaign “My Citizenship Duty is my Right” through various initiatives held in Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Mauritania and Palestine.

Al Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center organized a Conference on “Priorities of Reform in the Islamic World” in partnership with the Turkish Arab Association

In the framework of Al Kawakibi Center’s project on The Arab- Iranian Dialogue, a conference was organized with the partnership of the Turkish Arab Association on December 1st and 2nd, 2010 in Istanbul.

The conference was attended by an elite from the Iranian and the Arab Region Intellectuals and politicians in order to study and discuss the problematic relation between the concept of Democratic Reform, its mechanisms from the Arab and Iranian perspectives.

Establishing the arab citizenship movement

During the regional meeting held on 17-19 June 2007 in Amman, Jordan, and at the initiative of Al-Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center, in order to discuss the civil society organizations’ strategies to promote democratic reform, a call was launched for establishing the Arab democratic trend as a social movement. This citizenship movement transcends sector-based and ideological divisions, and seeks to bring together divided parties, as part of a collective building process that benefits from the small gains accomplished here and there.

KADEM is a technical, non-governmental regional organization specialized in knowledge transfer, expertise-sharing and capacity-building in the field of democratic transition.  It is founded on the principle of partnership among organizations and experts across the Arab region and beyond.KADEM was set up in Amman, Jordan, in June 2006. Following the Revolution in Tunisia, KADEM was registered in July 2011 as an association subject to Tunisian law.

KADEM seeks to enhance the contribution of Arab civil societies to democratic transition processes, thereby strengthening the foundations of national sovereignty, and promoting good governance based on social justice, economic development, gender equality, and broad popular participation in decision-making, as well as on the principles of rule of law, transparency, protection of human rights and individual/public freedoms, and peaceful alternation of power.
