The Euro-Med Rights Tunisia, the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Dignity-Danish Institute against Torture and Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center jointly organized “a thinking workshop on “Documents and Data of the Deprived of liberty: between access to Information and Protection of Personal Data in Light of the law relating to the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture (INPT)”, held on June 26, 2020. This workshop coincides with the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture and it was conducted in the National Authority for the Prevention of Torture’s headquarter.
This workshop was an opportunity for the INPT to present and discuss, within a cooperative framework, with the National Authority for the Protection of Personal Data (INAI), the National Authority for Access to Information (INAI) , the Tunisian national authority of prisons and reforms, the Ministry of Interior and relevant parties. Thus, to highlight functions and powers of the commission through several activities conducted during the workshop to present laws related to personal data and access to information, in addition to studies presentations of applied activities and a presentation of the experts’ report and recommendations.
At the end of the workshop, the participants insisted on the importance of following up the implementation of all of these recommendations emanating from the work done. Added to that, and in the same context, an announcement about the next step was made; which is preparing a coordination guide.
