The Arab Network for Democratic Elections: Parliamentary Elections Observation Mission on October 01-09,2019

In partnership with Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center and Mourakiboun, the Arab Network for Democratic Elections ANDE organized the parliamentaryelections observation mission held in Tunisia on October 6th, 2019.

During this mission, which lasted from October1st until October 9th, 2019, members of the Network ANDE have attended a series of meetings with supervisory commissions such as the Independent High Authority for Elections “ISIE”. Moreover,they met with heads of departments of the Administrative Court and Audit Courtto inquire about the legal aspect of the elections in Tunisia and the role played by the state institutions to ensure the proper conduct of the legislative elections. In addition to these meetings, members of the Network ANDE interviewed a number of representatives of political parties, coalitions and independent lists. They also met with some associations and civil society organizations working on the field of observation and election observation as well.

During the polling day on October,6th 2019, the Arab Network team have observed the elections by visiting polling stations in the governorates of Zaghouane, Siliana, all districts of Tunis, the capital, Nabeul (1 and 2), Sousse and Kairouan. The team has been divided into three groups; they have conducted field visits in different electoral districts and that was held in cooperation with KADEM’s team and Mourakiboun regional coordinators.Following this monitoring process, the network will present the election report.

The Arab Network for Democratic Elections represents a group of Arab NGOs (including Kawakibi Center) aiming at improving the electoral process, promoting transparency, democratic values and human rights in the Arab countries. The Network has conducted many observation elections missions in a number of countries in the Arab world (including Tunisia since 2011).
