With the support of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights EuroMed Rights Tunisia, Kawakibi Democracy Transition Center, the Danish Institute for Human Rights, the Danish Institute for the Prevention of Torture, Friedrich Ebert, the Council of Europe and the Danish-Arab Partnership Program, the second annual forum of the Association of Independent Public bodies was held under the slogan “Independent Public bodies: a pillar of democracy and a guarantee of human rights and freedoms.” It was held from November, 29 to December 01, 2019 in Hammamet, Tunisia.
The form brought together more than 550 participants, civil society activists, representatives of international bodies, and heads and members of independent public bodies. The Forum represented an opportunity to reaffirm the constitutional role of independent public bodies in supporting democracy and protecting and promoting rights and freedoms therein. A presentation was also conducted to shed the light on the achievements and challenges of the independent public bodies. After each presentation, discussion were held by representatives of civil society organizations to exchange opinions and ideas in relation to the work of these independent public bodies.
